Ellipsis Softproducts are designed to bridge the gap between the rapidly evolving digital communication market requirements and long product development cycles. To accomplish this, Ellipsis has developed a proprietary unified hardware/software design approach, Ellipsis Unified Design Methodology, to develop digital communication SoftProducts which can be thought of as "Virtual ICs". This approach provides not only portability across hardware platforms but gives customers the flexibility to optimize the product for each application. It is also designed for use with emerging reconfigurable hardware platforms. Ptolemy II, with its heterogeneous, multi-domain modeling and simulation capabilities provides the ideal environment for Ellipsis Unified Design Methodology. This paper highlights some aspects of the Ellipsis Unified Design Methodology and shows how Ptolemy can be used in constructing complete models for Wireless Digital Communications Systems.
