Bio:  I am a first year PhD student in Computer Science at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I am a member of Open systems laboratory where I work on distributed systems/cyber-physical systems with my advisor Prof. Gul Agha. My research interests lie in the broad areas of distributed computing, mobile/ubiquitous systems and cyber-physical systems. I have also had research background in the areas of machine learning and AI.

Previously, I was working with Microsoft Azure in their cloud monitoring and diagnostics group. The group focused on building infrastructure and applications leveraged by Azure cloud services for their diagnostics and analytics requirements. I have worked on problems ranging from data modeling and optimized querying/reporting for cloud VM availability metrics to writing big data processors and diagnostics log management services.

I graduated from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2012 with Masters degree in Computer Science and Engineering (concentrating on intelligent systems). Under the guidance of Prof. Atul Prakash, I worked on a NIST funded project on cyber-infrastructure for structural health monitoring. My focus was on building a context aware computing framework for improved bridge inspections. Alongside this work, I had the opportunity to work on interesting course projects around machine learning and its applications.

An internship at Amazon during this time also allowed me to explore big data technologies such as Hadoop MapReduce and leverage them to build data mining applications.

I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani. During this time, I worked on projects around evolutionary algorithms under Mr. Ramprasad Joshi's guidance and followed it up with a research project under the guidance of Prof. M.N.Murty at Indian Institute of Science(IISc.), Bangalore. During this internship, I worked on leveraging evolutionary computation to improve performance of classification algorithms like k-nearest neighbors.
