Abstract
Nontrivial software written with threads, semaphores, and mutexes are incomprehensible to humans and cannot and should not be trusted. Using threads to program multi-cores is not the solution. Actor-oriented component architectures implemented in coordination languages that complement rather than replace existing languages. With good design of these coordination languages, this will deliver understandable concurrency.
