Abstract
Several approaches have been developed during the past three decades to turn ideas and constructive specifications expressed in high level languages to custom hardware (e.g. silicon chips). Some of these approaches have been successful in specific domains such as DSP. In this talk I will focus on component based system design using Simulink and Xilinx's System Generator. I will also discuss the implementation of custom (proprietary) algorithms expressed in Matlab using AccelDSP. I will discuss the challenges in efficiently implementing some of the algorithms.
