Component Architectures for Time-Sensitive Systems

Citation

Abstract
This is an invited presentation in The Onassis Foundation Science Lecture Series. Part 1 explains why computer applications that depend on timing for correctness are fundamentally different from other forms of computation. It also analyzes where today's computing abstractions fall short of meeting the needs of these applications. Part 2 describes in some detail a possible solution called PTIDES that facilitates the design and analysis of distributed real-time systems.
