Input Selection

In our benchmarking effort, we do not attempt to measure the performance of whole system. We limit ourselves to measure the performance of CPU and the cache organization. Further we feel that it is a limitation of the SPEC benchmarks that they use just one input for each program. We think that this does not represent the full spectrum of work loads experienced by a particular CAD application in a typical design environment. In our work, for each program in the benchmark suite, we chose six input examples of increasing size. All the six inputs for any program fit in the main memory sub-system of memory hierarchy.
