           The MMA and Its Design Methodology

The speaker talks about his experience on a development project of
Fujitsu's multi-media assist (MMA) System-LSI, and addresses some
urgent CAD research targets.

The design methodology of MMA includes the following topics.

(i) "RTL description policy" was first determined to improve the logic
design quality.
(ii) A commercial clock tree generator with special enhancements was
used for the clock design.
(iii) A commercial floorplanner was specially extended for this
project to support a top-down hierarchical layout design style.

The difficulties he found in this project were in logic verification,
hierarchical clock tree synthesis and in automatic floor-planning.
