At GiE, we cultivate a fun, non-threatening environment that is designed to show how exciting engineering can be.

During camp, girls explore engineering, meet new friends and mentors, and develop their teamwork skills. GiE participants come from all over the Bay Area, with diverse interests and various experiences with engineering. While some girls already love engineering or science, for many this is their first time exploring engineering.

GiE 2018 Camps

What: An engineering day camp where girls explore what it means to be an engineer in a fun, hands-on environment. Download flyer here.
Who: Girls entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and living in the San Francisco Bay Area
Bay Area home-schooled girls who will be 11-13 years old during the summer of 2018
When: Session 1:     June 18-22,   8:30am – 4:30pm
Session 2:     June 25-29,   8:30am – 4:30pm
Session 3:     July 9-13,       8:30am – 4:30pm
Session 4:     July 16-20,     8:30am – 4:30pm
Where: UC Berkeley
Cost: Families who demonstrate financial need: FREE
Families who do not demonstrate financial need: $600
Included: Breakfast, lunch, and all materials
Application Due: March 1, 2018 (or once 250 applications have been submitted)

Volunteer Opportunities

Are you a high school girl looking for volunteer opportunities? If you're currently in high school you can apply to be a volunteer for our Girls in Engineering camps. (Volunteers must be entering at least 10th grade during the summer when they volunteer.)

Inspiring the Next Generation of Female Engineers

The Berkeley Girls in Engineering program is a week-long, non-residential summer camp for San Francisco Bay Area girls entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades to explore different aspects of what it means to be an engineer in a fun, hands-on environment. Girls will learn leadership skills such as goal setting and effective communication, and engage in activities that showcase different engineering disciplines. Participants will also design and create engineering projects throughout the week under the guidance of Berkeley faculty, staff, and students.
