Mustafa Ergen received the MS and PhD degrees in electrical
engineering from UC Berkeley in 2004.. He also received MA degree in
International Studies and completed MOT program of HAAS Business School from
the same university. His BSEE is from Middle East Technical University (METU
aka ODTU) with a METU valedictorian in 2000. He co-founded WiChorus based on WiMAX and LTE
in 2005 (acquired in 2009 by Tellabs for $200M) and was a member of the
National Semiconductor Labs in summers between 2002 and 2004 and awarded
National Semiconductor Post Doctoral Fellowship in 2004. He was the
co-founding director of the Distributed Sensing Lab after 2004 at Dr. Ergen focuses
mobile communication and technology management & entrepreneurship. He is
the author of many works in the field, including the books “Mobile Broadband –
Including WiMAX and LTE” and “Multi-Carrier Digital
Communications: Theory and Applications of OFDM of 2009 and 2004 respectively from Springer.
He is a speaker in leading technology events. He is serving in
the board of trustees of TOBB University of Economics and Technology. He was
awarded eight times Bulent Kerim
Altay Award by department of electrical engineering in METU and received Best
Student Paper Award in IEEE ISCC 2003 and has an invited paper in IEEE
GLOBECOM 2004.
