Intellectual Property Rights for iCyPhy Members
The objective of iCyPhy is to maximize the impact of its research. To achieve
this, iCyPhy will maintain an open atmosphere that encourages early and frequent
publication and other public dissemination of research results. Software will
primarily be released using an open source license such as the Berkeley Software
Distribution (BSD) License. Selected software, such as those subject to third
party obligations, may be released under different licenses.
Patents are expected to be rare, but in the event of their filing, Members
in good standing receive benefits according to their affiliation level (which
is summarized as as
indicated below):
- Affiliates: advance notification of licensing opportunities with time-limited
options for non-exclusive royalty-free (NERF) licensing for internal use
- Partners: time-limited option for NERF licensing for commercial use, in
addition to Affiliate benefits
- Premium Partners: time-limited option for non-exclusive no-cost license
for commercial use, in addition to Partner and Affiliate benefits

should be consulted for the exact terms.
