Abstract
Wearable bio-medical sensors are gaining popularity for healthcare and fitness applications. Low power design is essential for enhanced wearability and form factor minimization. Introduce the notion of low power modes for analog front-end (AFE) to only acquire key samples and bits of bio-potential signals minimizing the power consumption, subject to the application accuracy constraints. Turn off the AFE when sampling is not essential. Validate the proposed technique in the context of wrist-based heart rate monitoring devices. Our approach includes: 1)Dynamic time warping (DTW)-based method to evaluate the significance of each sample; 2)Greedy search-based method to iteratively remove the least significant sample from remaining samples; 3)eplace removed samples with interpolated measurements to recover the morphology of ECG signal.
