Abstract
The xLAB: Experience Design and Technology Lab is developing new experiences in wellness, entertainment and toys with content-coupled Internet of Things. Our cloud-based broadcast content servers deliver two-way interactions with physical objects in the user’s space to provide for personalized pacing of content, delegation of content to physical interfaces and adapting the content to suit the user’s need. We will demonstrate an interactive wellness mat that allows personalized pacing of broadcast television content. The content stream progresses based on the current state of the user, inferred by pressure sensors in the mat, and also signals the mat to light up with electroluminescent actuators so the user is guided through a yoga routine. The content is delegated to the mat and the user does not have to constantly watch the screen. It progresses at the pace of the user and adapts the content modules based on the user’s performance, fatigue and preferences. The interactive wellness mat is an example of content-coupled physical objects which provide a personalized and truly interactive experience which today’s cable TV infrastructure does not provide.
