Abstract
Moving information from any device to any other device in a secure and timely way is not enough to complete the Terraswarm vision. We will also need a way to name devices and services so these information flows are useful and meaningful. Your mobile devices have unique MAC addresses, serial numbers, phone numbers, login names and numbers. None of these names and numbers suffice for me to send you all an image. Our applications need to support names that refer to situated aggregates such as “all the displays in this room” or "stage left lights". We are exploring numerous challenges with naming the many Terraswarm entities and the kinds of naming services required to address them
