Berkeley EECS Annual Research Symposium (BEARS) - February 21, 2008

The Berkeley EECS Annual Research Symposium (BEARS) was held on February 21, 2008. at the University of California, Berkeley.

BEARS Overview

BEARS is an annual event that offers industry personnel a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about the exciting developments by researchers in the UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) departments. The morning session was held in the Sibley Auditorium of the Bechtel Engineering Center with talks by TRUST faculty, including Dean of Engineering Shankar Sastry, EECS Department Chair Edward A. Lee, and Professor Ken Goldberg.

BEARS gives industrial partners of the university the opportunity to interact firsthand with faculty and students in a research context. For industry, this event helps make connections between ongoing academic research and emerging problems in industry. For faculty and students, this event helps them find "real-world" applications for their research and make contacts for industrial collaboration.

TRUST Open House

Following the morning session, TRUST held an Open House from 2:00 - 5:00 PM on the 2nd floor above the Gordon and Betty Moore Lobby of the Hearst Memorial Mining Building.

The Open House featured demonstrations and posters by TRUST students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty. It provided attendees an opportunity to interact with UC Berkeley researchers in a more intimate setting and hear more about TRUST cybersecurity-related projects.
