Install Netscape

Double-click on the Internet Exploder icon on the desktop and connect to this page.

Get Netscape Communicator

Get Netscape Communicator Standard Edition from the no-frames versions of the Netscape Communicator download page. (The download button is on the right side of the page.) You'll get another page with a bunch of options on it. I didn't get the additional components or strong encryption. Select the Download for Free button at the bottom of the page and choose Save As in the dialog.

Install Netscape Communicator

Double-click the saved file to install. I installed the files into c:\networking\Communicator and created a Program folder called Communicator . After instllation completed, I moved the Communicator folder from c:\Winnt\Profiles\Start Menu\Programs to c:\Winnt\Profiles\johnr\Start Menu\Networking\Communicator and deleted the Aol crap and the Utilities folder. I also copied the Navigator shortcut into the Shortcuts folder.

Start up Navigator. It will ask you some questions: leave the email stuff blank, since Navigator does not support APOP. Click Yes when asked whether to make Netscape the default browser.

Delete Internet Exploder

Use Find from the Start menu to search for "Internet Explorer". Right-click on each and select Delete.

Now downloading the rest of the stuff is easy! Open this page on your NTpak and proceed!
