TRUST Berkeley Foundation for Opportunities in Information Technology (TRUST BFOIT)

OVERVIEW

TRUST BFOIT is a collaboration between the TRUST Center and the Berkeley Foundation for Opportunities in Information Technology (BFOIT) at the International Computer Science Institute (ICSI) that supports historically underrepresented ethnic minorities and women in their desire to become leaders in the fields of computer science, engineering and information technology. The intent is to provide youth with knowledge, resources, practical programming skills and guidance in their pursuit of higher education and production of technology. TRUST BFOIT is a four week, non-residential program, for Bay Area High School students interested in privacy, cybersecurity, and trustworthy systems.

  • Increase the participation of underrepresented students in STEM fields, particularly cybersecurity, privacy, and trustworthy systems at the earliest ages of their academic careers;
  • To engage students in hands on research that will prepare these students for careers in computer science and engineering;
  • To encourage a Berkeley Engineering connection to the East Bay Community.
