PROGRAM EXPECTATIONS
Research projects are under individual faculty sponsorship. Students are encouraged to express interest in a specific area of research when they apply however, the program cannot guarantee that the student will work in his/her expressed research area of interest. Faculty advisors and the program director reserve the right to make final research placements. All research is substantive, requiring the full-time commitment of the student (five days a week/40 hours per week). Students are not allowed to work while participating in the program. In conjunction with the requirements of the faculty advisors, all participants are required to submit a research paper, produce a research poster, and make a final presentation describing their work. Students also participate in supplemental activities including workshops, meetings, and classes to enhance their program experience and preparation for graduate school. Please note that students are expected to pay for the GRE preparation book, approximate cost $50.

ELIGIBILITY
The TRUST REU will be offered on a competitive basis to those individuals who, at the application deadline:

  1. Are citizens or permanent residents of the United States
  2. Are enrolled full time at a four-year college or university
  3. Are juniors or seniors graduating in December
  4. Have not already completed a B.A. or B.S. degree
  5. Have a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average
  6. Have shown potential for success, but may have had limited access to graduate research or other preparatory opportunities; the applicant should indicate his/her potential for success particularly as it relates to educational achievement while overcoming obstacles, which may include, but are not limited to: ability, economic, social, or educational challenges.

APPLICATION MATERIALS AND PROCEDURES
A complete application includes the following materials:

  1. Completed online application form
  2. Resume, emailed to reu-info@truststc.org
  3. Statement of Purpose, emailed to reu-info@truststc.org (The statement of purpose should be 500-600 words. If you are unfamiliar with the statement of purpose, information can be found here)
  4. Two letters of recommendation using the TRUST Recommendation Form, mailed seperately
  5. Official copy of your current academic transcript, mailed seperately
