Technology for EECS 124

Below is a partial and evolving list of technologies available for projects.

1. iRobot Create, a programmable rolling robot with a variety of sensors and interfaces for adding more sensors. This robot is the underlying platform for the Roomba vacuum cleaner. The iRobot Create has a Command Module with an 8 bit microcontroller. To install the software to use the iRobot, follow the online instructions.
2. TinyOS, an open-source operating system designed for wireless embedded sensor networks.
3. Ptolemy II, an extensible software environment supporting multiple models of computation and code generation for embedded systems.
4. Java with real-time capabilities.
5. Eclipse integrated development environment (IDE).
