Setting up TCP/IP

Open the Networking control panel and click on the Protocols tab. Select TCP/IP and click on the Properties button. In the dialog that appears, set the parameters as follows. (For your machine, the only thing that will be different is the machine's IP address.) Be careful: my first attempt had three typos that prevented networking from operating correctly!

Tip: the subnet mask will be automatically set to 255.255.0.0. This is wrong! Use 255.255.255.0.

If you are already connected to the network, restart. Otherwise, shut down, plug into the network, and power-up again.
