We would like to be able to preview three camera inputs that have
s-video (aka Y/C 4 pin din). The preview system needs to be fairly
portable.
The usual option is to get 9" crt monitors, which usually run about 800ea. I would prefer to use LCDs, since these monitors will be lugged around. $720 for 3 - 2.5" monitorsUse Sony FDL-250T 2.5" Color walkmen msrp $169.99, $129 at cnet and s-video converters for a total of $240 ea.The downside to this is that the image is very small, and we need to use s-video to composite video converters to feed the walkmen. I'm worried about degrading the s-video signal, since we use s-video from the camera, through the switcher all the way to the encoder. We would also want to get a AC-E45HG AC Power Adaptor An example of a s-video/composite converter is: b&h: Comprehensive DA/convert svhs in - 2svhs/1 comp out, $109.95 ea Another option is to get 4" or 5" monitors from Marshall Electronics However, all of these take composite video in, so we we need to add converters $1530 for 3 - 4" monitorsMarshall V-LCD4-PRO $399 + s-video/composite converter $110$2400 for 3 - 10.5" LCD screensSony LMD1041 - These have s-video in, so no converter is required$2579 for 3 - rack mount 5" monitorsMarshall V-R53P Triple 5" LCD Rack Mount Panel $2249 + 3 s-video/composite converters ($110ea)Other possibilitiesDistribution AmplifiersOne idea is to take s-video in, and put s-video and composite out |
