Below is a list of teleconferencing facilities available in the DOP Center.

These resources are available to DOP Center occupants, we do not offer services to users outside of the center.

If you are interested in video teleconferencing at UC Berkeley, see The ETS Video Conferencing page

Setting up ReadyTalk

As of ~May, 2012, ReadyTalk is UCB's preferred vendor for teleconferencing.

Getting set up with ReadyTalk

  1. Get a chart string from your grant administrator. To find the name of your grant administrator, search for the name of your faculty on http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu.
  2. Go to IS&T Shopping Cart: Voice Services > Conference Calls > ReadyTalk Conference Call Service and click on Login. If you can't log in, see your usual purchasing person.
  3. Assuming you can log in, enter:
    Your Name
    Your Email address
The desired ReadyTalk ID, which is typically your 7 digit campus phone number
  4. Hit the "Add to Basket" button, then hit "Checkout"
  5. Get the funding information/chartstring from your group's Research Support Officer (RSO). Within EECS, one way to determine your group's RSO is to go to http://www.eecs.berkeley.edu, search for your faculty and see if a RSO or administrative assistant is listed.
  6. Find your processing unit, mine was EERES COENG ENGINEERING RESEARCH, press "Set Processing Unit" and then fill out the rest of the form, including the chart string. Below are some hints for some of the fields:
    • BU (Business Unit) bai.berkeley.edu says that the UC Campus Business Unit is 1
    • Sometimes the Project field is blank
    • The Flex is often a string of 5 capital letters
  7. Enter the chart string in "One-Time Labor COA String" and then hit "Check to use the same COA as above." to validate.
  8. Hit Checkout
  9. The Review Work Order page will probably say " You don't have permission to submit this order" at the bottom. Select the email of your grant administrator and then hit "Hold Order For Review". The order will be sent to the grant administrator and you will receive a copy via email.

If you have problems ordering, try the "Voice Services" at the IS&T Service Desk:

Voice Services Consulting on analog and digital lines, voicemail services (Cal Voicemail), processing data orders, video, phone equipment, (AirBears) calling cards, conference call equipment rental, new service offerings, directory services and shopping cart training. CCU staff is also available for individual personalized consultations. M-F 8-5 510-642-8500 Press (1,3) ccu@berkeley.edu
